When Should I Book My Tiny Tattoo During My Holiday?
This is one of the most important things to consider.
If you're planning to spend your holiday swimming, using a pool, visiting a spa or relaxing in a hot tub, you may find it easier to have your tattoo towards the end of your stay.
Maddy's aftercare advice is to avoid soaking, baths, swimming pools and sea swimming for the first two weeks while your tattoo heals.
So, if you're arriving in Brixham on Monday and have a week full of beach days and sea swimming planned, having your tattoo on Tuesday probably isn't the best plan.
Instead, you could enjoy your holiday first and schedule your tiny tattoo towards the end of your stay.

It may be much easier to enjoy the hot tub first and have your tiny tattoo later in your stay.
Can I Sunbathe After Getting a Tiny Tattoo?
This is another big consideration for a seaside holiday.
Maddy's aftercare advice is:
No sun or tanning beds for the first two weeks.
A healing tattoo should be protected from direct sun while your skin recovers.
Once your tattoo is fully healed, protect it with SPF 30–50 whenever it is exposed to the sun.
This is particularly important for delicate fine-line tattoos. UV exposure can contribute to fading over time, so good sun protection is one of the simplest things you can do to help your tattoo stay looking its best.
What if I've already got a tan?
If you've been spending the day on the beach before your appointment, let us know.
We'd always rather you arrived with healthy, un-irritated skin than tried to squeeze a tattoo appointment into an already sun-heavy day. We cannot tattoo sunburnt or irritated skin, as this can affect the healing process and the quality of your tattoo

Can I Drink Alcohol Before My Tattoo?
If you're on holiday, this is definitely worth planning for.
Maddy recommends avoiding alcohol for 24 hours before your tattoo appointment.
So, if you've booked a sunset dinner and cocktails with friends, check when your tattoo appointment falls.
A little forward planning means you can enjoy both your holiday and your appointment without having to rearrange everything at the last minute.
Should I Eat Before My Tattoo?
Yes.
We recommend eating before your appointment.
Having something proper to eat beforehand can help you feel prepared and comfortable during your appointment, particularly if you're nervous or this is your first tattoo.
If you're staying in holiday accommodation and don't fancy cooking, Brixham has plenty of little cafés and eateries where you can grab something to eat before your appointment.
Just don't turn up on an empty stomach after a morning of sightseeing!
Should I Walk to My Appointment?
Brixham is wonderfully walkable in many areas, but we'd recommend thinking about how you arrive for your tattoo appointment.
We don't recommend walking a long distance immediately before your appointment, as we want you to arrive relaxed rather than having worked up your circulation and arrived hot or flustered.
If you're staying further away, consider driving or arranging transport so you have plenty of time to arrive calmly.
Can My Friends Come With Me?
Yes, but there is one thing to know about our studio.
It's a small, intimate studio, so we can comfortably accommodate the person having their tattoo plus one additional friend.
If you're travelling as a larger group, there's plenty of space on the drive for friends to wait in the car, or Brixham has lots of lovely little cafés and eateries where they can grab a coffee or something to eat while they wait.
And if you're travelling with your best friend and you're both having tiny tattoos, make sure you tell us when booking.
There is something rather lovely about getting matching or complementary tattoos together while you're away.
What Happens During Your Tiny Tattoo Appointment?
If this is your first tattoo, knowing what to expect can make the experience much less daunting.
We'll discuss your design and placement and make sure you're happy with the plan before anything permanent begins.

Once everything is agreed, Maddy will create your tattoo and then talk you through the aftercare you'll need to follow while it heals.
The appointment should never feel rushed.
Maddy's Tiny Tattoo Aftercare Advice
Your tattoo is a fresh piece of artwork, and how it heals is just as important as how it's applied.
Tiny fine-line tattoos rely on precision. Proper aftercare helps protect your skin, supports clear, crisp lines and gives your tattoo the best chance of settling beautifully over time.
Everyone's skin heals differently, but keeping the area clean, moisturised and protected gives your skin the best environment to heal.
The First 24 Hours
After your appointment:
Keep your tattoo clean and dry.
Remove the wrap after the advised time.
Gently wash the tattoo with lukewarm water and fragrance-free soap.
Pat the area dry rather than rubbing it.
Apply a very thin layer of aftercare balm.
The key word here is thin.
With delicate fine-line work, over-moisturising isn't helpful.
The First Week
During the first week:
Wash your tattoo 1–2 times daily.
Moisturise lightly.
Expect some light flaking or itching.
Don't pick or scratch the tattoo.
It can be tempting to interfere when your skin starts to flake, but let the healing process happen naturally.
The First Two Weeks
For the first two weeks, Maddy recommends avoiding:
Baths and soaking
Swimming pools
Sea swimming
Hot tubs
Intense exercise or excessive sweating
Sun exposure
Tanning beds
Fragranced products
Tight clothing or friction around the tattoo
This is particularly important to remember when you're on holiday.
Your itinerary might normally include a morning swim, afternoon in the sun and evening in the hot tub. With a fresh tattoo, you'll need to give your skin a quieter couple of weeks.
What About Sun Cream?
Once your tattoo has healed, SPF 30–50 should become part of your normal sun protection routine.
During the healing period, follow Maddy's advice to avoid direct sun exposure rather than relying on sun cream to protect a fresh tattoo.
Looking after your tattoo in the sun can help your delicate fine lines stay looking beautiful for longer.
What Will My Tattoo Look Like While It Heals?
Don't panic if your tattoo changes slightly during healing.
Light flaking and itching can be completely normal, and fine-line tattoos may heal lighter than they initially appear.
Your skin is doing the work of healing underneath the tattoo, so give it time.
Don't pick, scratch or over-moisturise.
Once your tattoo has fully healed, Maddy can assess how it has settled. Fine-line tattoos can sometimes require a touch-up, and this is a normal part of the process.
